Meet Our Executive Director

Marquisha Griffin, MPA, CPM

Marquisha Griffin is the Executive Director of the Cullman Housing Authority and a seasoned public service leader with over two decades of experience at the intersection of affordable housing, community development, organizational management, and government administration. A Kansas City, Missouri native, Griffin is known for her collaborative leadership style and is widely respected for her ability to lead transformative change while centering equity, operational excellence, and community impact.

Griffin’s career spans leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. She has served in appointed capacities for the State of Arizona under former Governor Janet Napolitano (later Secretary of Homeland Security), where she helped advance public engagement and community-focused initiatives. Her early career included meaningful work in the office of the late Congressman Ed Pastor, which shaped her lifelong dedication to public policy and constituent advocacy. Nationally, she has held leadership roles with the National League of Cities, supporting municipalities across the country in their efforts to shape local public policy. Griffin also previously served on the city council in her former municipality.

Since joining Cullman Housing Authority, Griffin has led the agency through a transformative period of growth and modernization, streamlining operations, launching resident-centered programs, and driving financial and organizational improvements. Guided by integrity, a commitment to equity, and a people-first mindset, Griffin leads with a vision that uplifts both individuals and institutions. Outside of her professional role, she remains actively engaged in community initiatives focused on mentorship, leadership development, and programs that build sustainable pathways for communities to thrive.

She holds a B.S. in Political Science from Arizona State University, a Master of Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management, and is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Howard University.

Cullman Housing Authority: Serving Hundreds with Safe, Affordable Homes

Today, Cullman Housing Authority manages 326 public housing units in the southwest part of the City of Cullman, maintained to high standards for the comfort of our residents. We also administer the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program to assist low-income families in renting decent, private-market homes throughout Cullman City and Cullman County. In total, CHA’s housing programs provide vital assistance to hundreds of households in our area.
